Supreme Driving School

During a recent meeting with Sri, who owns Supreme driving school. He talked to me about his difficulty in maintaining the schedule for classes, and he also needed a site to promote and develop his business as the competition is increased. He engaged me to come up with a design for his site to solve the problem. He had also few thoughts on how and what he wanted in his site. I as UX consultant was able to deliver a successful and design.

Interview

I interviewed Sri to know his business requirements

  • About supreme driving school.

  • How he schedules classes at present.

  • How he informs his students if any change in schedule

  • How he promotes his school like vouchers, packages and so on

  • How he gets payment

From above users, I got below qualitative insights 

  • Wanted to book or cancel class from the site

  • Wanted to know availability of date

  • Wanted to know packages and pricing available

  • Wanted to know insights of package

I then continued interviewing potential users​​

  • 6 of his current students.

  • 25 of students who have contacted him for classes.

  • 13 of users who are using other driving schools.

Interview provided the qualitative data. Then I conducted survey to support my findings with quantitative data.

29 users responded and their survey responses were analysed. All responses confirmed the findings from the interview.

Competitive Analysis

To understand more, I set to understand what other competitors are doing. As driving industry varies from single person owned to national wide owned with branches. I compared various factors to layout a detailed comparison. Competitors picked were

  • On Road driving school

  • Drive2success driving school

  • Harris driving school

Personas

Synthesis of data from above research techniques leads to three type of users. To well define their problem I have summarised in below table

Manish

Planning to learn driving, A first-time learner.

Pain points

  • Want a package, So classes so it will be cost-effective.

  • Too many schools to compare and pick the right one.

Sudha

Currently learning driving in one of a driving school

Pain points

  • Need to pay by cash, often forget to get cash.

  • Sometimes forget to cancel the class when unable to attend. This sometimes gets charged.

Arul

Recently arrived in Sydney, Want to convert her overseas licence.

Pain points

  • Wanted expert advice, road safety and rules.

  • Would need to pick and drop services 

  • Would like to pay with the card.

Problem

The main problem identified by users are

  • Want to do more manual activities online (e.g; book class, cancel class)

  • Want easy payment process within the site.

Solution

  • Design a site which can automate many manual processes

  • Design easy payment process.

Moscow

With above solution to be delivered, I put out a MVP design with features.

Design studio / Sketch

  • I sketched a rough design on paper to flush out the basic design.

Digital design

  • Following after paper sketching, I transformed to digital design using Azure.

Usability testing

  • With more valuable feedback we provide the final design

  • I conducted usability testing with few users who were currently undertaking driving classes

  • They appreciated the process flow involving booking and viewing schedules

  • The payment flow was well received as it was easy to follow and it is within the site.

What Next

  • The site is now designed as desktop friendly, next step to transform this to a mobile-friendly site.

  • An admin app for the owner to maintain application and view statistics.

  • Feature to notify both instructor and users before classes commence.

  • Moreover, much more to come in future, stay tuned.

MY WORK

Provide ED staff with a convenient and reliable way to record the ED patients pain level at regular intervals with reminders and store the information for medical staff to review and access.

Design a website for a driving school to help students to check availability and book classes from the site

A platform where parents can check on any updates about the child, as they are posted /logged by childcare staff !

Redesigned the website and addressed the requirements of users to revive and minimize the customer churn rate.
